Mechanical Polishing
Mechanical Polishing is the process of using a ceramic, synthetic or organic media combined with compound or soap in a mechanical process to debur, degrease, grind, polish and prepare parts for the electroplating process. Most of Spectrum’s projects arrive directly from the tool & die shop, foundry or stamping shop and leave Spectrum as a finished product. Spectrum Metal Finishing Inc. has developed proprietary burnishing, grinding and polishing processes to accommodate all of your unique products and requirements.
Burnishing and Tumbling
Spectrum has a number of tumblers which can run a variety of medias and compounds. This enables Spectrum to burnish, grind and polish all shapes, sizes and materials including brass, steel, stainless steel, lead, pewter and more.
After completing the Mechanical Polishing process, the majority of our projects continue on to be electroplated in Gold Plating, Silver Plating, Nickel Plating, Black Nickel Plating, Copper Plating, Brass Plating, or Electroless Nickel Plating.
