Clear Powder Coat

The process of powder coating uses a dry mixture of plastic resins, pigments and other fillers that melt and fuse together when heated. The mixture is electrostatically charged and sprayed onto the surface of the product using a low velocity air gun. The electrostatic charge holds the powder in place while the part is baked in a 400 degree oven. The extreme heat causes a chemical reaction to take place and allows the powder to cure, creating a highly durable finish. Powder Coatings resist cracking and peeling and are extremely wear and corrosion resistant.

Any metal object that can hold an electrostatic charge or any item that has previously been electroplated and withstand the heat of the 400 degree curing process can be powder coated.

Clear powder coating is a very durable coating that protects the underlying finish and adds depth and luster to the surface. This is a great compliment to all of Spectrum’s electroplated finishes. Clear powder coating is especially great for any piece that has exposure to elements that could cause the product to fade, wear or corrode.

Spectrum Metal Finishing Inc. offers clear powder coating as an additional finish to our Gold Plating, Silver Plating, Nickel Plating, Black Nickel Plating, Copper Plating, Brass Plating or Electroless Nickel Plating finishes.
